New faces: Rui Dalton

May 15, 2013   //   by Rory Tunbridge   //   No Comments

Holly Rose Emery and Andrej Pejic are not the only intriguing models to hail, respectively, from The Land of The Long White Cloud and the Balkans. Meet 17 year-old surfer/skater/base jumper Rui Dalton.

The striking 6’2″ 17 year old – who was born in Australia to a Serbian mother and Maori father – lives on Queensland’s Sunshine Coast and was scouted a fortnight ago by Jo Sheils of Caloundra, QLD-based scouting agency Hunter Model Management.

Just signed to Brisbane’s Dally’s Models, the ultra athletic Dalton, who is also a qualified surf lifesaver, has already caught the eye of New Zealand’s Black magazine, which has dubbed him one to watch and will soon feature him in its pages.

With nearly half of the top runway models at last month’s Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Australia new faces who had never previously appeared at the event, Australian models powering ahead on the world’s runways during show season and IMG Models opening up shop in Sydney last year, it’s clear that the hunt is on for the Next Big Things from Down Under.  Full Article…

Net-A-Porter stocks first-ever Proenza Schouler exclusive

Luxury shopping site Net-A-Porter.com announced this morning that they will be stocking a limited edition, 9-piece exclusive ready-to-wear collection by New York-based label Proenza Schouler. The collection will comprise of a skirt, mini dress, jacket, sweater and pair of shorts, and will launched online next month (which is only two days away, Thank the Fashion Gods!!). NAP has been carrying PS since 2005, bringing the label to over 70 countries across the world, with the new collection not being available in 170. The collection was based on some of our favorite pieces from past pre-spring collections and a riff on the idea of surf-inspired classics like the board short and the Baja pullover, but reinterpreted in luxe fabrics like leather and custom tweeds, Jack McCollough and Lazaro Hernandez said in a joint statement. NET-A-PORTER was one of the first stores to carry Proenza Schouler online, so we wanted to do something special to celebrate their continued support over the years. In this exclusive sneak peek, we get a feel for what the trip was like for the Toronto-based trio Stephanie Mark, Erin Kleinberg and photographer Jake Rosenberg. Beautiful. Rural. And ripe for typical Cov styling. As for the juicy road trip stories: “The highlight of the trip was when Jake took the wrong exit on the highway. He ended up spending the next two hours at Texas Jerks, a BBQ joint in a small Texas town kicking it with the two heavily bearded owners,” says Mark. Wel

Camilla Franks channels her inner Pachamama – MBFWA SS 13/14

Apr 24, 2013   //   by Rory Tunbridge   //   No Comments

Australians, we love us some colour. No kidding in the case of Camilla kaftan queen Franks. If the Great Barrier Reef suddenly rose from the depths of the Pacific Ocean, took on human form and headed out for dinner at Nautilus in Port Douglas, hands down it would be robed in her psychedelic resort wear, which has become a fave of Oprah, Beyoncé and Lily Allen, not to mention ram raiders. On Wednesday, Franks will unveil her Pachamama Spring/Summer 2013/2014 collection of womenswear, menswear, childrens wear and swimwear in Centennial Park, apparently the first fashion show to ever be staged inside the park, all part of its 125th birthday celebrations this year. The collection is named after the Pachamama goddess who is revered by indigenous tribes of the Andes and Franks has scored some rock royalty for opening honours – Georgia May Jagger, who will lead a pack of 30 models in a big budget production produced by Mark Vassallo. Kate Moss Style

SLEEK & SIMPLE

Kate Moss, one of the world’s most notorious, unique and high-earning models, has a style so incredible it was a challenge to pick just one look. Moss wears everything well because she makes it her own. She handles her style picks with confidence and an “I don’t care what you think, I’ll do what I want” attitude that no one else can really emulate. But we’re going to help you try!

This look is flexible and easily takes you from spring office wear to happy hour cocktails on a patio or date. Choose a sleek dress pant in a pastel, rosy pink tone. You’ll likely find a variety of options, and if you can’t find a rosy hue, mint green or pastel blue will have the same effect. Ensure the pant is the right fit for your body type, and when in doubt have it altered so that they fit perfectly. (We cannot stre
