Leggings have been given a funky makeover this season. They have been accessorized, ripped, shortened and experimented with different garments. Some may consider it overdone but if you wear them the right way, these leggings can put you high on the fashion scale.
There is some rule of thumbs that should be followed when you wear leggings. So, check out these top tips to wear leggings without looking like a mess:
1. Avoid visible panty lines while wearing your jeggings
Guess leggings in denim styles don’t just look cool, they’re pretty darn comfy too! An important factor to remember, however, is that jeggings are made from thinner denim than your regular jeans. So, please take time to check your rear in the mirror. Visible panty lines (VLP in shorthand) can really be an embarrassment here. Preferably, pick a top that covers your butt!
2. Keep your look pared down with faux leather leggings
Hillary Duff and Ashley Olsen have been sporting this style for quite some time. The hot faux leather leggings give you the finish of leather with the comfort of spandex. You can wear them for evening wear with ravishing animal prints or go casual during the day with a cotton shirt dress. Don’t combine printed leather leggings with printed tops, girls! Avoid bling colors unless you are very confident of carrying them off. Check out the metallic James Lace inset faux leather leggings with crinkles and a sailor inspired fit.
3. Don’t reveal too much with cut out leggings
Lady Gaga may carry off leggings with thousands of holes. But most of us aren’t entertainers, so it’s safer to pick cutout leggings with fewer holes in them. I love the velvety Ntice mesh cutout leggings that have a slight cut near the ankles instead of having holes all over the legs. Again, these skimpy babies need to be worn with tops that cover the rear!
Some other tips that you should keep in mind are:
- Always try the leggings before you buy them. If they are loose at the waist, then you will end up just tugging at them the entire day
- Wear your leggings with short skirts and pants. No tacky dresses, capris or skirts that end below the knees should be combined with leggings.
