MAKING HIS OWN WAY: James Dobson is a self-taught fashion designer.

Red-rimmed eyes, severe slicked back hair, heavy clogs and black metal. That was the scene for Jimmy D’s fast-paced show at New Zealand Fashion Week that made the hairs on the back of the neck stand up.

These harsh elements contrasted with the oversized diaphanous silk tops, printed with the phantasmagorical artwork of Auckland artist Andrew McLeod, that billowed bat-like about the models as they moved.

Does Lady Gaga change on the plane? We suspect she does. She cant travel these crazy long distances and get off the plane in this case, in this black two piece YSL viscose top with lace inset and perforated skirt from resort 2012 and those killer heels looking this fresh and fashionable. Meanwhile, we have to say she looks almost normal in this chic get up. Parisian, practically. Very stylish and classy, light and comfortable, this would suit for all mid-seasons showers as for the winter. The color is the best point to me, changing from usual.

L.A.-based stylists Emily Current and Meritt Elliott are responsible for dressing some of Hollywoods most on-the-rise starstheir client Emma Roberts in particular has been turning heads latelybut its really the notion of East meets West that has them busy these days.

We were inspired by the notion of adventure and the idea of Kate Spade New York, an iconic East Coast brand, traveling westward, Current said, referencing the unlikely compatibility of the pairs whimsical, more casual Americana aesthetic (demonstrated in the Current/Elliott line they also design) with the New York mainstays playful yet ladylike charm.
